FAQs

  • Are there age limits for this course?

We have taught kids as young as 8 years old but we do find that kids ages 11 and up are best suited for the course material.

  • Can my child write more than one screenplay?

Yes.  During your membership, you can write as many scripts as you want and they will receive a full critique and script notes.  However, it is advised to focus on a maximum of three scripts in order to make present the best work possible.

  • How many pages does the script have to be?

The scripts are written for short films and can be anywhere from 15 to 30 pages.

  • I live in another country; can my child take this course?

Yes.  That is the beauty of online instruction.  As long as you can understand the English language, then you can take this course anywhere in world.

  • How long is each course?

Each course, including assignments, runs about half an hour.

  • We have a summer vacation coming up, can we take a break from the course?

Yes.  When schedules get tied up and it looks like you need to take some time off from the course, send a quick email stating how much time you will need and we will place your membership on hold.

  • Can you help my child get an agent?

Unfortunately not but we can help your child write a Hollywood-ready script that can be submitted to screenwriting contests and film festivals tailored just for kids.  The possible outcome of a good script is agent representation.

  • My teenager would like to take this course; are they too old?

No.  We have taught teens as old as 18, however, many of the film clips and movies target a younger audience.

  • When can I register for Screenwriting Kids?

You can register at anytime.

  • What happens if my child does not complete a script by the end of the course?

We try our best to keep in touch with our students and keep them on track to complete their script but sometimes extracurricular activities get in the way and students are not able to finish in the allotted time.  Depending on the particular situation, an extension is available.

  • My child wants to be a professional screenwriter; do you provide career counseling?

Yes.  Upon completion of the script, our students receive a one-on-one teleconference where they can discuss their career goals and receive advice and guidance regarding the ins and outs of the screenwriting industry.
